In typical AGI fashion, there is just so much covered in detail it is really difficult to explain just how comprehensive this course is.

Your instructor is Don Harden, an AGI trained Gunsmith who has over 12 years of experience in applying Cerakote to a wide variety of firearms, guides you through the entire process from disassembly, preparation, and application, to curing and final steps. He shows you exactly what to do, the best way to do it and explains why each step and technique is important. Throughout the course he shares tips, tricks, and techniques he has learned from Cerakoting hundreds of different firearms.

Whether you only want to Cerakote your own firearms or if you are a gunsmith and want to add Cerakoting to the services to greatly increase your profit margin – this course is for you. Every step is covered in detail, starting with all aspects of the setup. Choosing the workspace, lighting, air-system, cleaning area, blast cabinet, and all the dimensions

and features you’ll need in a spray booth and a curing oven are presented.

Along the way, Mr. Harden gives suggestions on where you can buy each item and explains the options you have in deciding how to configure your system. You will learn all the important considerations necessary so that you can customize your own Cerakote operation.

You will understand the different Cerakote product options and when to use a particular one. You will learn the proper mixing procedures, catalyst ratios, curing temperatures, and curing times. As you follow Don through the entire coating process from beginning to end on four different types of firearms, you will learn how to create a perfect finish. He demonstrates the special techniques you need to use when using the spray gun to apply the Cerakote.

Don starts by showing you how to apply a single color of Cerakote to a gun, using a Remington 870 Shotgun.

Next, he shows you how to apply three colors, using pre-made stencils in a cool digital camo pattern, to a 1911 pistol. Taking the multi-coating process to an advanced level Don shows you how to apply four different colors of Cerakote to a Ruger 10/22 rifle in a classic woodland camo pattern and then shows you how to do a custom stencil pattern on a plastic frame carry pistol using a more complicated stencil pattern designed to look like a giraffe.

Don imparts a massive amount of critical knowledge condensed into a fast paced Four DVD, 6½ hour video course that covers more information than you would get in multi-day classroom setting. In addition, he provides you with numerous practical tips and techniques you can use to produce top quality, professional grade results.

When you have completed this course, you’ll truly have all the knowledge you need to begin applying Cerakote to firearms for yourself and others. Not only will they be beautiful and attract attention, they will also have the corrosion and wear resistance Cerakote provides so they will continue to look and function beautifully for many years to come. Become an AGI Cerakote application expert!

If you go to Cerakote’s course, you will most likely have to travel across the country, pay for your airfare, hotel, and expenses. You’ll probably also burn two travel days getting there and back for just  a two day class. They currently charge $2,150 just for the course, so all in it could total around $5,000 to go to their course and it is nowhere near as detailed this Cerakote Application Course for Gunsmiths. Plus with AGI’s course you can view it again and again as needed.

Firearms applications is actually one of the smaller markets for Cerakote. They sell their finishes to automotive, aerospace, and high-tech industries. So it is understandable that they don’t go into the kind of depth and detail that we do for applying Cerakote specifically to firearms.

Cerakote finishes on firearms range are priced at retail from $150 to $500 with about $200 being the average that we have seen. So if you refinish 100 guns at $200, that would be $20,000. As you will see in the course, once you start doing this, it is kind of addictive and the sky is the limit if you follow what we teach you to do. You will want to Cerakote all kind of things to protect them from the elements, just don’t get carried away and Cerakote the CAT! Mom will get mad!.
