What’s Was New at the 2008 SHOT Show

The SHOT Show is always an amazing place for companies and individuals in the Firearms industry to meet. This year was certainly no exception. The show was attended by over 45,000 people and had over 715,000 square feet of exhibit space. (more than 16 acres of guns and accessories.) Just about everybody who is anybody in this industry was there. All showing their latest wares and ideas. We interview on video several dozen  manufacturers and suppliers that we felt had new, different or innovative ideas. You will see it all in up coming issues of GunTech DVD Magazine.  However here is a brief overview and a sneak peek:

Bob Landis an old friend in the industry and owner of Ohio Ordnance Works Inc, showed us his new BATFE approved 240B SLR (Self Loading Rifle) – a semi auto version of the Mag 58 or U.S. 240  Medium belt fed Machinegun at $13,500 each this certainly is a Big Boy Toy.

Ron Norton of Chiappa Firearms (The Italian maker of numerous collector grade replica long guns, such as the Spencer, Winchester 1887, Sharps rifle and others, showed us his latest models. (The mini sharps is really sweet!) and invited us to go to Italy to film at the factory (we hope to do that in the fall). We will show you about 6 different models in issues of GunTech.

X-Caliber Tactical – Brings a whole new dimension to Air Soft including less-lethal air guns for crowd control and law enforcement use. You’ll love seeing these guns. Including a Mini Gun that shoots 6mm air soft pellets or steel BB’s !! at several thousand rounds per minute.

We found a manufacturer of a new AR Drum magazine that holds 150 rounds and doesn’t need special lubrication. We will test this in up coming issues of GunTech.

Also we found an exciting  conversion for your AR-15 gas system that will give you AK-47 style gas piston reliability without permanent modification to the rifle. They also claim the gun can now go for several thousand rounds without requiring cleaning. You know that we will put that claim to the test– Details in GunTech.

How about a Multi-Caliber AR-15 that can be converted from .223 to 7.62×39 to .308 to 9mm all with one Serial Number!! This kind of flexibility might come  in real handy in the future.

We reviewed several training devices including a Electronic Shocking Knife (you have got to see this!) Trust me – You won’t want to get “cut” with this.

Stephen Sanetti, president of Ruger showed us the latest in the Ruger product line including a slick little pocket .380 pistol and a pistol version of the 10/22. –

We also reviewed several new Gunsmithing tools and looked at an innovative but very controversial new cartridge.  We will be packing the next two issues of GunTech with all of these SHOT Show interviews and a lot more, so be looking for your issues in the Mail.

I will give you more from the 2008 Show in my next up date.
